Jaco Putker Grafiek

I make limited edition etchings from a fascination with the boundary between reality and imagination. Familiar elements are placed in unexpected contexts, creating images that suggest rather than explain. Inspired by folklore, fables and myths, I invite viewers to wonder, wander and create their own stories.

My Creative Process

"My work begins with collecting visual fragments through photography, drawing and observation. These evolve into compositions through sketching and digital editing before being transferred to a photopolymer plate. I print each etching by hand on an etching press using archival inks and Hahnemuhle etching paper. The process is slow and iterative: roughly 60% research and image development, 30% printing, and 10% finishing, editioning and quality control."
