Saggar fired tapered ceramic cup
These stoneware cups are hand-thrown in Rotterdam. To me, each cup serves as an ode to the making process. The patterns on the outside are the result of my reinterpretation of an ancient ceramics firing method called saggar firing. During this process, the cup is fired inside a closed ceramic container filled with organic materials. The heat and smoke leave unpredictable, permanent traces on the surface, ensuring no two objects are the same.
While they have a raw, organic feel on the outside, the cups are fully glazed on the inside and completely dishwasher-safe for everyday use.
Because every piece is shaped by hand, the dimensions vary slightly from cup to cup. Please feel free to send me a message if you would like the exact measurements of a specific piece!
