"I work in collaboration with nature by making my own paint from natural treasures, such as rocks, plants, soil and flowers that I find on my walks or grow in the garden. This process invites me to slow down and think in a more long-term and seasonal way, which is quite different from simply using ready-made paint from a shop. I have to consider which plants grow in which season, and the process itself often requires at least 24 hours to transform a plant into paint.
In addition, I work with textiles, making small and large tapestries that are entirely sewn and embroidered by hand. I use recycled fabrics that I find in thrift shops or that hold a particular meaning for me. I also experiment with plant-dyeing garments.
For me, making everything by hand is meaningful because, as mentioned above, I love how it invites me to slow down and create something with attention and care.
The amount of time I spend making a piece depends on its complexity and size. An A3-sized drawing can take around 24 hours, including sketching, making the plant-based paint and creating the final artwork. A small tapestry measuring 30 × 40 cm can take around 35 hours to complete."
