Buzzard fighting snake embroidery| Janneke Embroidery

I created this piece in a small 14x20 cm oval hoop, inspired by a captivating photo I found on Pinterest. The scene almost feels staged, the way the snake wraps around the buzzard is so striking. The photographer must have been thrilled to capture such a dramatic moment!

While I don’t have a deep emotional connection with snakes, I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad for it. That’s why I chose not to emphasize the bird’s claws in this piece and instead surrounded the scene with lovely blue flowers to shift the focus. I love how the contrasting styles, dramatic and detailed for the bird and snake, soft and whimsical for the flowers, came together.
