"It all begins with a pencil and paper. I sketch out new geometric patterns. Once the design is perfect, I transfer it onto a pattern to guide the glass cutting.
I select the sheets of glass for their unique colors and textures. Each individual piece is hand-cut and then ground on a glass grinder to ensure every edge is smooth and fits perfectly.
Next, each piece of glass is wrapped by hand in copper foil. This creates the surface that allows the solder to adhere to the glass.
I solder the pieces together, creating the strong lead lines that hold the mandala together. To give the piece its classic, high-contrast look, I apply a black patina to the solder lines.
Finally, the piece is cleaned, polished to a shine, and fitted with a sturdy chain, ready to hang in your window and catch the light."
